Born and educated in Birmingham, David graduated as a Batchelor of Economy from Aberdeen University in 1985 and started work in Surrey. After two years as an Estate Agent in Farnham working for Hamptons, he qualified as a Surveyor in 1989. A job move took him to Hove in 1993 and in 2002 he purchased with Piers Street, his business partner, IPPS Ltd changing it's name to Sussex Surveyors LLP. He claims that Hove is just about the best place he has ever worked and enjoys trading under an independent banner. He lives in Cowfold with his wife, two daughters and dog and his interests include golf (member of the Southover Golf Society), socializing (member of both The Philistines and The Untouchables lunch clubs together with racket ball and clay pigeon shooting). John was educated at Hove College and entered into Estate Agency in 1958 with Callaways, then moved to William Prior & Son in 1960 taking responsibility for the Business Transfer Department. Moving then to Lincoln & Co and having had 5 years experience in business transfer he was appointed manager with Albert Prior & Grainger (Whiteheads) then became partner at Whiteheads leaving in 1981 to open his own practice under the title of John Watkins Business Sales specialising in Business Transfer and Commercial Agency.
John was made an associate member of the Institute of Business Transfer Agents in 1970 and was transferred to fellowship in 1997. He joined Brighton & Hove Estate Agents in February 1974. He is also a member of the National Association of Estate Agents from 1972 transferring to fellowship in 1984 and a fellow of the Institute of Commercial Business Agents from August 2004.
John lives in Hove with his wife and daughter and is an active member of Tuesday Lunch Club & OS&B and has a keen interest in raising monies for various charities.
